Do’s & Don’ts in the Lecture

8 tipps how not to make a spectacle of yourself

DO

DO NOT

1

Open Communication

Personal issues with professors should be addressed openly. In most cases, it will be easy to find an uncomplicated solution together.

1

No Pictures

The lecturers’ slides and notes are their intellectual property. Before taking pictures of them, one should ask for permission or rather copy them by hand.

2

Punctuality

It is distracting when someone comes late to a lecture. It is therefore best to be there on time or to at least sit down as quietly as possible.

2

No Videos in Social Networks

Nobody likes to find unauthorized pictures or videos of himself in social networks. Of course, this is no different for professors.

3

Attention

The lecturers know what they are talking about. They deserve that one pays particular attention to their lectures.

3

Respectful Interaction Online

The anonymity of the internet should not be misused for speaking badly of professors. This is part of a respectful interaction.

4

Tidiness

Everyone likes learning in a tidy lecture hall. Therefore, nothing should be left behind after the lecture.

4

Don’t Leave Early

When one attends a lecture, it should be no problem to stay for the last five minutes. One should give everyone the chance to listen to the end of the lecture.
