Semester Abroad
One of the highlights of the Bachelor in Business Administration is the integrated semester abroad. With over a 170 partner schools we offer a large choice of schoosl worldwide. The benefit of the semester abroad is that it is integrated in your studies in a way that you do not need to extend your time of study here at the University of Mannheim. All of your courses abroad will be acknowledged and converted into the german grade system. You do not even need to pay any form of tuition at your partner university abroad – the University of Mannheim will cover these fees for you.
The program
The university program is the easiest way to do a semester abroad. You can choose between one of our more than 200 partner universities, so that everybody can find the perfect experience for himself. Every students has up to seven choices ordered in a priority list and after the acceptance from the partner university there is sometimes also a language skills test to ensure the students can attend the lectures taught in the foreign language. A big advantage is also the fact that there are no extra fees to be paid apart from the ones for the University of Mannheim.
Going as a freemover
This type of semester abroad is used if the chosen university is not between our partner universities . Every university is good for a semester abroad, it only needs to have a Business Faculty. However, the extra fees of the university abroad need to be paid in addition to the fees from the University of Mannheim.
Fees
The fees for the University of Mannheim need to be paid during your semester abroad. If you choose to be a free mover, you have to pay the fees of the foreign university, too. This can cost up to ten thousands of Euros, but you can apply for scholarships, like the DAAD.
Course choice
The semester abroad should be fully enjoyed, however there are also exams that need to be done. You have the possibility to not only choose business related subjects, so that you have a broader perspective. If you decide to be a free mover, the rules are slightly different. Through a Learning Agreement with the University you have the safety that your exams will be recognized. The semester abroad needs some effort in its planning, but the students always have the help from the International Office and the Dean’s Office. From the second semester you will get a newsletter where everything is explained step by step and there will be some informative meetings. You can also find all information on the International Office website or on the website of the student association. There you can also find details regarding your application for the semester abroad, some experiences from former students and the list of the partner universities.
